Cerberus New Transmedial Work

2nd Floor Honey Thieves : Jarrett Earnest

I chose the Art piece with the honey all over the wall because it reminded me of my childhood because as a child I drew on the walls with Crayola Crayons and it looked like that was the idea behind what the artist did, but instead he used honey.

Coming to Meridian Gallery and interning there for the first time was a lot more fun than I expected. I was able to meet some new people who work and also intern here at Meridian. I love artwork and it's a lot more fun than just sleeping in at home. I was able to see many different artwork and sculptures that is very random because you don't see many of these artwork at other galleries. I been to SFMOMA and Yerba Buena art center, but Meridian Gallery is smaller and has very creative artwork I had never seen before. I learned a lot today for my first day here as an intern at Meridian Gallery.

What we are doing at the moment.

At the moment we are doing a collage project, where we look at the art upstairs and recreate it with a collage. First we sketch the art work including shading so we know whats on top of what. Then we  recreate the artwork through a collage. There's also the option to recreate the artwork through a painting. The question came up during this project was "Are collages art?" Well my opinion is that it is an art because you're being creative to make pieces of scrap come together and make an art-piece. It's your own creation, so I guess it's a personal question. I see it as another way for a person to express themselves.

Today we are drawing a deer horn. We talked about color. We listened to a 20 second poem. The poem was written by a doctor. The doctor has owned a book store in San Francisco since the 1950’s. Yellow and purple are secondary colors and we are using that to paint the sculpture.

BEBE MILLER COMPANY: A HISTORY

Just me , you and the dance floor

In the minds, hearts, and souls the dance life was sold.
There are possibilities that it showed,
but hey that's the way to go.
A HISTORY was told through the headphones that they had once owned.
They expressed themselves on the floor ,
as the spot lights flashed and lightly dimmed the facinating show,
that Bebe Miller composed to show,
the night that our eyes slowly began to glow.
